Reasons why some android apps crash so much

Its so annoying when you are seriously using an app and all you see is a popup modal showing that your favorite app has crashed and so it has to be closed and run again. That has ever happened to most of android users. But people usually jump to solutions without knowing the problems first.

In this post, I will be listing most of the reasons why your android apps keep crashing and some of the solutions to those problems.

App has crashed

Reason #1: Running low on space

Android apps run on caching data which is stored in the android folder. Caches are temporary files that are stored in phones memory every time an app runs. This helps to make the resources readily available so that the next time you run the app, Its able to read the cached files than downloading them again from the internet.

When memory is low, app temporary data is not written fully hence some apps keeping on crashing.

Solution: Delete unwanted files, Uninstall unused apps, keep your data on a memory card or store it on cloud

Reason #2: App data is corrupt

If there is a certain app that keeps on crashing every time you run it not matter if its running in the background or foreground, then you just to know that its the culprit. Maybe its data was corrupt and you have to do something about it.

Solution: Clear app's cache, clear its data (you will loose its settings and data of that app), reinstall the app

Reason #3: Using a moded app

Cracked apps can become serious problems in most cases when incompatible ones are installed on your device. They sometimes create a vulnerable route to access your phone remotely in most cases when the intentions of the person who cracked them are different.

Solution: Download apps from playstore, install only compatible apps

Reason #4: Slow internet connection

Apps keep on running in the background most especially those which need an internet connection. Some apps need a stable internet connection to download the cache files and connect to server. But when the connection is timed out or blocked, some tend to crash and close.

Solution: Stable internet connection, switch to 4G if supported, limit background data usage for some apps

Reason #5: Rooted phones

Rooting a phone is seen as a way to get access to the full device and some have many reasons for rooting them which include making the phone faster. But they always forget that a rooted phone is like having a day old baby. You have to think for it and take responsibility for almost everything including securing it.

Some phones are rooted incorrectly and it leadings to poor performance of the app.

Solution: Unroot the phone

Reason #6: Low RAM

RAM(Random Access Memory) is the type of memory that is used to improve the performance of an app and it is globally access by all the apps installed in the device.

When RAM is over used, android devices have a special technique of closing some of the apps that over consume its RAM. It is called the low memory killer and can only be disabled on rooted phones.

Solution: Limit running apps, always close apps when not in use

Reason #7: Dead motherboard

If the phone keeps on crashing apps, restarting and heating up, it is probably that its motherboard is loosing it. The phone will also misbehave by freezing when you run the camera app, make a call or connect to the internet via mobile data or even Wi-Fi.

Solution: Stop over charging it, use a correct charger, don't run many apps, sell it
